The sensor is located on the right side of the engine near the top, at the back. If it starts right away, it is your sensor. Try leaving it on for 15 seconds and then start the car. Having looked at this very useful forum for the first time today, I am thinking I need to try replacing the 109 relay next(?), then maybe the earth connections (which I think you guys refer to as 'grounds').Īm I on the right track? What do the other 3 relays do? Should I replace 109 and 103?Īny suggestions very welcomed. If you remove the water temperature sensor connector from the sensor, the glow plug light should stay on when you go to start the car. The van has four relays stuck into the fuse board - 18, 99., 103 and 109. It sometimes is a problem when it is damp, but only mildly cold.but is no problem at all when the weather is warmer. I have had the temperature sensor replaced, all of the glow plugs replaced and the glow plug relay replaced but none of this has worked. When it does work, there is a definate 'click' of the glow plug relay suddenly working perhaps?

The problem is worse the colder it gets, but as soon as an electrical signal reaches the glow plug lamp it starts perfectly and idles nicely. The engine won't start until the glow plug light does come on, and that can take between 20 to 200 attempts at turning the ignition on and off. When the weather is cold, I turn on the ignition and the usual ignition lights come on, but the glow plug light does not. Hi everyone, I have a problem with my van.
